ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 18. Commercial banks in Turkmenistan are actively expanding their digital offerings in online trade, with 923 registered merchants connected to the national e-commerce platform as of July 1, 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank shows that JSCB Halkbank leads the sector with 541 merchant accounts, followed by JSCB Rysgal (161) and SCB Turkmenistan (110). Other participants include JSCB Senagat (60), SBFEA (34), Turkmen-Turkish JSCB (13), and smaller numbers from SCB Dayhanbank and JSCB Turkmenbashi.
The growing use of digital payment instruments and merchant services underscores Turkmenistan's efforts to develop the digital economy, which are undertaken within the framework of government programs on technological modernization and financial infrastructure development.
