Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 April / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Swiss consulting company Colenco has commenced developing the project documents for the consultant of the German bank of development KfW to restore the water and sewerage systems in the Ganja and Shaki Cities of Azerbaijan, Natig Abdullayev, Head of KfW Baku office, stated.
Natig believes that the first tenders to specify contractors and work in this direction will be dealt with in 2008.
In addition to developing technical conditions of the tender, the consultant will also be responsible for the institutional upgrade of the water system in Ganja and Shaki. A KfW representative believes that measures to upgrade the water system and construction work will be fixed at the same time.
The project provides for the improvement of quality and the safety of water and the sewerage systems in Ganja and Shaki. The cost of the project is €55mln. KfW will allocate €37mln credits and Seco - € 10mln in compliance with the agreement signed in Bern in October 2006. The share of Azerbaijani Government in the project is €8mln.
The project will have a significant effect on improving living standards of the local population in Ganja and Shaki.
The official rate of the National Bank of Azerbaijan at 29 April is 0,8288 AZN/USD.
