Tehran, Iran, April 12

Trend:

Iran's Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade said that two percent of neighboring countries' imports come from Iran and the plans had been made to double exports to neighboring countries by 2020.

“The Ministry of Industry has defined some specific projects with the emphasis on the domestic production and the localization of the manufacturing of all imported parts in all industrial fields,” minister Reza Rahmani said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He also emphasized special capacity of the mining sector in Iran.

Rahmani argued that one of the major approaches of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade in the current Iranian year is the export, especially focusing on neighboring countries.

"Plans have been made to increase exports to neighboring countries in the next two years," he said.

“Existing exports are estimated at $25 billion and should be worth $50 billion over the next two years,” he said.

"One of the ways to boost production, is to increase exports, which are based on demand in neighboring countries,” said the official.

Rahmani expressed regret that just two percent of neighboring countries' imports account for Iran, which is a very small amount.

“The ministry has planned to take important measures regarding home appliances, clothing industry, downstream petrochemicals, value chain of basic metals such as steel, aluminum and copper,” said Rahmani.
