Trend:
Iran has not made a decision over gasoline rationing or possible dual rates, said Oil Minister.
"So far no decision has been made over energy prices, but in case of rationing, there will be dual gasoline rates," said Bijan Zangeneh, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"Currently, more than 40 million fuel cards have been issued for vehicles and motorcycles. The fuel card is mostly for rationing gasoline. So far, 3.5 million people have applied for lost fuel cards," he said.
"The parliament has obligated the Oil Ministry to activate fuel card, and the ministry has issued the card by use of individual banking cards, so the gasoline remain single rated," he added.
"There is no limit in refueling 60 liters gasoline by use of fuel card except in Sistan and Balouchestan province," he said. "The price of oil products such as fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, liquid gas and aviation fuel are subsidized, while there are rationing for some."
"The refineries produce good quality gasoline; currently, we produce Euro- 4 gasoline that is distributed in big cities such as Tabriz and Bandar Abbas. The domestic gasoline production is currently 115 million liters per day and even is intended for exports," he added.
"The improvement depends on quality of gasoline and reducing emissions in refineries, which will reduce air pollution in cities such as Tehran," he noted.
