The project of the second five-year plan of Nurly Zhol State Infrastructure Development Program for 2020-2025 has been developed in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the press office of prime minister of Kazakhstan.
According to Kazakh Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov, over the past five years, about 5.8 trillion tenge (approximately $14.8 billion) has been allocated for the development of the transport industry within the framework of the Nurly Zhol program for 2015-2019.
As a result, the share of transport in GDP grew to 8.3 percent, labor productivity increased 1.7 times, total transit of containers by 3 times to 825,000 containers in twenty-foot equivalent, income from transit by 4.3 times to 782.4 billion tenge ($2.004 billion), the volume of transit of goods by road increased to 1.8 million tons, and the number of transit passengers by four times to about one million transit passengers.
Furthermore, within the framework of the program, six runways were modernized at the airports of Uralsk, Petropavlovsk, Almaty, Semey, Kostanay, Balkhash.
“The capacity of the terminals on the border with China has been increased to 40 million tons per year. Due to the expansion of the port of Aktau and the construction of the port of Kuryk, the capacity of the port infrastructure in the Caspian has been increased from 17.5 million to 27 million tons per year. Since the start of the Nurly Zhol program, freight traffic on inland waterways has grown by 86 percent to 1.4 million tonsthrough resumed navigation on the Irtysh River, and the quality of navigable waterways has been improved,” he said.
Furthermore, Atamkulov noted that the total funding of the new state program until 2025 will amount to 6.598 trillion tenge ($16.9 billion). As part of the development of road infrastructure, modernization the Dostyk-Moyynty section and electrify the Moyynty-Aktogay section is planned. For the development of small airlines, construction of 16 airfields is planned.
In order tobring automobile transport to the national standards, construction and modernization of about 133 bus stations and passenger service points is planned.
Implementation of the new Nurly Zhol State Program will increase investment in fixed assets of the transport industry by three times from to 3.4 trillion tenge ($8.7 billion), the volume of transit by rail to 26.9 million tons, by road - to three million tons per year.
