In January-July, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) exported 591.7 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia compared to 131.3 million cubic meters in January-July 2008, SOCAR said.
In July, SOCAR exported 40.85 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia.
Gas supply to Georgia began in April 2008. In 2008 around 788.93 million cubic meters of gas was exported to Georgia.
In November last year Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement which gives an opportunity to intensify SOCAR's activity on the Georgian gas market over the next five years, starting from 2009. Under the agreement, SOCAR established a subsidiary company, which provides gas to consumer groups determined by the government of Georgia (social group).
