BP forecasts that gas production volume will reach approximately 16.6 billion cubic meters at the Shah Deniz field this year, BP Vice President for Communications, External Affairs and Strategy in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli told Trend.
“A peak volume of gas production worth 24 billion cubic meters per year is expected to be observed in Shah Deniz field in 2022-2023,” Aslanbayli added.
The second stage of the development of Shah Deniz Stage II is the starting point of the Southern Gas Corridor, through which the Caspian Sea gas will be supplied for the first time to the European market.
As part of the second stage of the field development, 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year will be additionally produced, six billion of this volume will be supplied to Turkey while 10 billion - to Europe.
During the peak period, gas production from the Shah Deniz field will reach 26 billion cubic meters of gas per year and 120,000 barrels per day.
