STAR Refinery in Türkiye see sharp decline in naphtha output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 28. The STAR Refinery, operated by Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) in Türkiye, experienced a sharp decline in naphtha production, Trend reports.

According to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), the refinery produced 94,767 tons of naphtha in July 2024, down from 135,456 tons in the same period in 2023, marking a 30 percent decrease.

The refinery processed around 686,462 tons of crude oil in July 2024, an 18 percent reduction compared to the 835,435 tons received during the same period in 2023.

Commissioned in October 2018, the STAR Refinery was built with a total investment of $6.3 billion, of which $3.3 billion was financed through loans. The refinery has an annual processing capacity of approximately 10 million tons and can handle up to 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
