Azerbaijan’s gas export dynamics show remarkable growth - GECF report finds

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 17. Azerbaijan has seen a significant increase in natural gas exports over the past decade, with exports climbing from 8.07 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2014 to 23.85 bcm in 2023, according to data from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), as reported by Trend.

Domestic consumption of natural gas also experienced notable growth, rising from 10.87 bcm in 2014 to 15.29 bcm in 2023.

The GECF report highlights that Azerbaijan’s marketed gas production reached 36.7 bcm in 2023, reinforcing its position as a key player in regional natural gas production.

The report further underscores that 15.3 bcm of natural gas was consumed within Azerbaijan in 2023, reflecting strong domestic energy demand. Meanwhile, 23.9 bcm was exported via pipelines, emphasizing the country’s strategic role as a vital gas exporter.

Per capita consumption of natural gas in Azerbaijan reached 1,512 standard cubic meters (Scm) in 2023, illustrating the nation’s substantial energy use.
