BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Pakistan hails the development of the Middle Corridor as this trade and transportation route promotes ties between the regions and helps their economic development, Pakistan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin told Trend.

He believes that Azerbaijan and Pakistan are spreading their wings in economic diversification, ensuring that the development of cooperation doesn’t just put all its eggs in the energy basket. Instead, they’re also paving the way in the transportation sector, along with light industry, pharmaceuticals, trade, and tourism, making sure to cover all bases.

The Pakistani ambassador, while talking shop about the fuel and energy sector, highlighted that the companies at the helm of the oil and gas industry are chewing the fat over enhancing cooperation. However, he also stressed that it’s crucial to cast a wider net and collaborate in the non-oil sector as well.

To note, since the summer of 2023, SOCAR and Pakistan's PLL have been on the same page, striking a deal for the supply of liquefied natural gas from third countries to Pakistan, as Azerbaijan isn’t in the LNG game.

“The diversification of our economies coupled with our strategic geographical location makes both countries important players and partners in regional and global markets,” the Pakistani ambassador noted.

He encouraged the companies from both nations to join forces and put their money where their mouth is to bolster trade ties and ramp up investments.

The Ambassador also disclosed that a trade mission of Azerbaijani companies to Pakistan is currently in the process of being organized.
