Value of gross agricultural output in Kyrgyzstan drops

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 2. The gross output of agricultural, forestry, and fishing production in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 204.111 billion soms ($2.3 billion) from January through August 2023, which is 1.5 percent less than the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the decrease in the gross output of agricultural products during this period can be attributed to a 6.8-percent reduction in crop production.

Animal husbandry contributed 54.7 percent to the country’s overall agricultural production, crop production hold share of 42 percent, while forestry - 0.1 percent, fishing - 0.2 percent, and services - 3 percent.

The largest amount of agricultural products was produced in the Chuy region, accounting for over 26 percent or 54.97 billion soms ($619.6 million), followed by the Osh region with 44.99 billion soms ($507 million) and the Jalal-Abad region with 41.76 billion soms ($470 million).

Farms and individual subsidiary households contributed 94.3 percent to the overall agricultural production volume.

Kyrgyzstan’s GDP amounted to 677.2 billion soms ($7.6 billion) from January through August 2023.
