Inflow of direct investments from Germany to Kyrgyzstan skyrockets

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 28. The influx of foreign direct investments in Kyrgyzstan from Germany experienced a substantial boost in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, $18.292 million in foreign investments came from Germany from January through March 2024, which is 13 times more than the same period in 2023 ($1.307 million). Investments from Germany accounted for 9.1 percent of the total foreign investments in Kyrgyzstan during this period.

Germany is in the top five when it comes to investing in Kyrgyzstan. China takes the cake, putting in a whopping 26 percent of all investments in Kyrgyzstan, with Russia coming in second at 20 percent, Tükiye at 14 percent, the Netherlands at 10 percent, and Germany at 9 percent.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan received $200.3 million in foreign investments in the first quarter of this year, which is a 17.2 percent increase year-on-year.

The lion's share of foreign investments, a whopping 40 percent, went to manufacturing, while trade took a respectable 15 percent, mining claimed 14 percent, and information and communication received a modest 9 percent.
