Kyrgyzstan boosts banana imports in 10M2024

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 8. Kyrgyzstan imported 29,664 tons of bananas from January through October 2024, which is a 29.3 percent increase compared to 22,944 tons during the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the value of the banana imports reached $21.632 million, which is a 43.6 percent increase from the $15.064 million recorded during the first ten months of 2023.

The imports were sourced from the following countries:

- Ecuador: 25,942 tons, valued at $18.467 million

- China: 1,981 tons, valued at $1.248 million

- Russia: 1,222 tons, valued at $1.392 million

- Kazakhstan: 421 tons, valued at $467,663

- Türkiye: 73 tons, valued at $36,746.

Additionally, 22 tons were imported from India and 0.2 tons from Uzbekistan.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $13.4 billion in 10 months, which is 6.4 percent more than in the same period of 2023.

The country's total exports grew by 25.2 percent year-on-year to $3.1 billion, while imports increased by 1.8 percent to $10.3 billion.
