An international forum within of which exhibition and conference on the topic "World experience and advanced technologies for effective utilization of water resources" will be held, begins its work in Ashgabat.
The country's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his address to the participants stressed that Turkmenistan puts forward "initiatives on issues related to water supply and environmental security, rational use of water resources in the border regions in Central Asia, overcoming the negative impact on the ecology of the Aral crisis."
According to him, measures for the rational and efficient use of water resources, including the introduction in the production of advanced methods of drip and rain irrigation are consistently and steadily implemented in Turkmenistan.
Berdimuhamedov also emphasized that construction of an artificial lake Altyn Asyr is being rapidly conducted in view of amelioration cultivated areas, collection and reuse of collector-drainage water in the middle of the Karakum desert.
In 2009, the first stage of this grandiose hydraulic building was put into operation. "Establishment of the Turkmen lake and the use of new, cutting-edge water-saving technologies should become an effective factor in further enhancing the productivity of the agricultural sector of our country in terms of tangible water shortages around the world,"- said in the address.
"Commissioning rational use of the lake Altyn Asyr will create a solid base for the improvement of environmental background throughout the Central Asian region and will promote further growth of the economy of our state,".
