BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5. Iran's imports of products from Turkmenistan decreased by 47 percent in value and 61 percent in weight during the 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024) compared to the same month last year (from March 21 through June 21, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
According to the statistics, Iran imported 3,820 tons of products worth $5.34 million from Turkmenistan during 3 months.
The statistics indicate that during the same period last year, Iran's imports of products from Turkmenistan amounted to 9,690 tons worth $9.98 million.
Furthermore, the information notes that Iran imported petroleum coke, cotton, fabric, and other products from Turkmenistan.
Meanwhile, Iran imported 31,000 tons of products worth about $38.7 million from Turkmenistan during the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024). Compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), Iran's imports of products from Turkmenistan increased by 37.5 percent in value and decreased by 21.6 percent in weight terms.
Iran's imports of non-oil products during the 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024) totaled 9.4 million tons valued at $14.3 billion. During the 3 months, non-oil imports increased by 1.4 percent in value and 7.8 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing the products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the importation of products manufactured in the country.
