Prospects for implementing project management in the oil and gas industry were viewed at a scientific and practical seminar held at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan.
Specialists from various enterprises of the country’s energy sector took part in the event.
The seminar’s participants noted that the management system in oil and gas enterprises of Uzbekistan is built on the functional principle, which relies on a clear definition of functions between departments and the preservation of a multi-level management structure.
However, such approaches are not always effective in a highly competitive environment, taking into account the prospects for companies to enter the international market.
The seminar participants reviewed the experience of using project management in the most successful international oil and gas companies, including through the use of such tools as the Microsoft Project software or the American Project Management Institute’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) in order to introduce new mechanisms for managing production processes at energy sector’s enterprises.
In total, more than 50 specialists from Shurtan gas chemical complex, Mubarek gas processing plant, Bukhara and Ferghana oil refineries, and the JSC Andijanneft and Ustyurtgas Gas Chemical Complex took part in the seminar.
