Azerbaijani post operator announces tender for purchase of computer and network equipment

Azerbaijani State Postal Operator, Azerpocht OJSC, has announced a tender for the purchase of computer and network equipment for its branches within the project "Development of Financial Services.
Tender proposals of participants are received till September 24. Bids will be announced the same day at 16:00. The cost of participation in the tender is 300 manat.

The project "Development of financial services" is implemented by the Azerbaijani government and the World Bank within the state program "E-Azerbaijan" and envisages reforming of postal structures and improvement of postal services of Azerpocht. The project focuses on the use of financial services in villages and regional centers and promote economic growth through creation of business infrastructure.

The project includes rendering of financial services by post offices. The postal services will render limited financial services at the initial stage. These services include opening of current accounts, money transfer. Deposits are planed to be drawn at the next stage. Loans will be given within long-term prospective. The Azerbaijani Central Bank will be give a license for Azerpocht to render these services.

The automated financial system of Azerpocht is expected to be completed in September. It deals with introduction of software solution with the help of which post offices will be connected to a central office of the enterprise.

It is also planned to join APUS system (Automated Payment Utility Service). It is used in the Central Bank of Azerbaijan now.
Operations over the project of automation of postal financial system were launched in March 2008. HP Colvir and Sinam companies are involved in the project.
