Production of petroleum products in Tajikistan slumps

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 26. Tajikistan produced petroleum products for 18.6 million somoni ($1.7 million) from January through June 2023, which is a decrease of 29.5 percent compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

According to the Statistical Agency of the county, the decline was also registered in mazut production, by 37.1 percent, and diesel fuel, by 67 percent.

During the period under review, the production of coal in Tajikistan decreased by 13.5 percent, the production of oil declined by 27.8 percent, and the production of non-metallic materials dropped by 5 percent.

However, there was an increase in cement production by 4 percent, construction concrete by 11.3 percent, and paving slabs by 28.7 percent.

Furthermore, the volume of electricity, gas, steam, and conditioned air production and distribution reached 4.4 billion somoni ($402 million) during the period, which is a growth of 13.6 percent year-on-year.

According to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, the overall value of industrial production in the country amounted to 20.71 billion somoni ($1.9 billion) in the first half of 2023, an increase of 10.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

Throughout this reporting period, there were a total of 3,243 industrial enterprises operating in Tajikistan, including 307 in the mining industry, 2,769 in the manufacturing industry, 71 in the electricity, gas, steam, and conditioned air supply sectors, and 96 in water supply and waste treatment.
