DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 8. The volume of approved sovereign financing from international financial organizations and development agencies for Tajikistan reached $322.4 million in the first half of 2024, Trend reports.
According to data from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD), Tajikistan received a total of $347.2 million in approved financing for the entire year of 2023.
In terms of sectoral distribution, projects in the energy and transport sectors are predominant. The primary lender to the country is the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), which has approved $195 million in financing.
In the entire Eurasian region, approved sovereign financing totaled $2.3 billion in the first half of 2024. Currently, 96 projects are actively being implemented.
The World Bank (WB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are the leading contributors, accounting for a combined 77.7 percent of the approved funding. The WB approved $1.9 billion (49.9 percent of the total), while the EBRD approved $609.1 million (27.8 percent).
Other significant contributors include the IsDB with $195 million (8.3 percent of the total), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with $132.9 million (6.1 percent), and the EFSD with $100 million (4.6 percent).
