Amount of goods passing through Iran's borders revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. A total of 2.5 million tons of cargo flowed into the country from Shahid Rajaee port and 2.4 million tons through Parviz Khan customs during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development shows that 9.3 million tons of cargo were transported by trucks on Iranian roads during the six months. About 4.7 million tons of transit cargoes were non-oil products; 4.6 million tons were oil products.

Meanwhile, the transit of trucks on Iranian roads increased by 63 percent during the mentioned period compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023).

According to the Iranian Customs Administration, 11.5 million tons of goods were transited through Iran during the six months. Transit increased by 50 percent compared to the same period last year.

To note, Iran is currently operating a main road, 45,170 km of freeways, and 2,793 km of highways.
