BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16. The volume of liquid fuels supplied to Iran's thermal power plants increased by 38 percent from March 20 through October 15 (2024) compared to the same period last year, the executive director of Iran's National Petroleum Products Distribution Company Karamat Veis Karami said at an event organized on October 16 with the participation of company's officials, Trend reports.
According to him, a total of 9.7 billion liters of liquid fuel were supplied to the country's thermal power plants during the mentioned period. Of this, 7.8 billion liters were consumed. A total of 3.8 billion liters of diesel fuel was consumed.
Veis Karami added that by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2025), the volume of liquid fuel delivered to the country's thermal power plants is expected to reach 10 billion liters.
Meanwhile, Iran's thermal power plants produced 193 million megawatts of electricity during the six months (from March 20 through September 21, 2024).
To note, Iran's electricity production potential is 93,455 megawatts. The production potential of Iran's thermal power plants is 76,257 megawatts, production potential of hydroelectric power plants - 12,144 megawatts, production potential of retail power plants - 2,485 megawatts, production potential of renewable power plants - 1,300 megawatts, production potential of Bushehr nuclear power plant - 1,020 megawatts, and the production potential of diesel units - 408 megawatts.
