The Director-General of Bazargan Customs of Iran said since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), 115,847 tons of goods have entered the country through this border, which has decreased by 62 percent compared to the same period last year.
"The value of goods imported through Bazargan border since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started on March 21) has reached $133.7 million,” Mojtaba Bazgir said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
“The value of imported goods via Bazargan border in the same period last year was $50 million."
He added that the imported goods include all kinds of industrial machinery, products made of cast iron or steel, aluminum, plastics, welding metal, ash, rubber and all kinds of fabrics.
“The number of declarations issued by this customs is 3,121, which was 1,046 in the same period last year,” he noted.
Bazgir also referred to the transit sector of the Bazargan customs.
“During the above period, 577,954 tons of goods have been transited through this border,” he said adding that its value was equal to $2.8 billion.
“Total of 19,455 transit declarations have been issued,” he added.
About a quarter of Iran`s total border terminals are located in West Azerbaijan Province. The province has five border terminals, including Mako Bazargan, Razi Khoy and Sarv Urmia on the Turkish border, Sanam Bolaghi Poldasht on the Nakhchivan border, and Tamrchin Piranshahr on the Iraqi border, IRNA reported.
