BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. Wrestling competitions at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games continue in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, Trend reports.

Freestyle wrestling matches were held today in two weight classes and women's matches in three weight classes.

Freestyle Wrestling

Islam Bazarganov (57 kg) defeated Iranian Ali Momenizhujadeh 4-2 in the first bout, then defeated Afghan Said Zazai with a technical advantage (11-0) to advance to the final. In the decisive bout, he lost to Kyrgyzstan's Abdumalik Karachov 3-9, winning the silver medal.

Ali Rahimzade (65 kg), winning his debut against Turkish wrestler Ahmet Duman 5-1, then left Egypt's Said Elgash no chance, 10-2. In the semifinals, our athlete lost to Iranian wrestler, two-time world champion, and Olympic medalist Rahman Amuzade (0-7). In the bronze medal bout, he faced Uzbekistan's Umidjon Jalalov and lost 3-8.

Women's Wrestling

Ruzanna Mamedova (62 kg) demonstrated agility and high-tech wrestling technique right up until the final. In her first bout, she defeated Palestinian Ayllah Mayali 10-0. She then confidently defeated Uzbekistan's Nigina Sabirova 6-0. In the final, Ruzanna faced Nigeria's Esther Kolawole. Despite a tough fight against an experienced opponent, Mamedova let victory slip away in the final seconds and finished her debut Islamic Solidarity Games with a silver medal.

Nigar Mirzazade (68 kg) started the tournament confidently. After defeating Indonesian Desi Sintaya 12-7 to advance to the semifinals, she was unable to overcome Kyrgyzstan's Meerim Jumanazarova 1-12. In the bronze medal bout, Nigar will face Bangladesh's Halima Akter.

Zahra Kerimzade (76 kg) defeated Uzbekistan's Sevinchoy Polvonova 5-0 in her opening bout. In the quarterfinals, the young athlete lost to Cameroonian Vilita Pelagie 0-10. With Bangladesh's Halima Akter missing from the bronze medal fight, Mirzazade climbed to third place on the podium.
