ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 6. Samruk-Kazyna, Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund, and Qatari-based Power International Holding (PIH) are jointly developing two key gas pipelines and two gas processing plants, said Nurlan Zhakuypov, Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna, Trend reports.

During President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Qatar, Nurlan Zhakuypov highlighted ongoing collaborations with PIH in the gas sector. These projects, reported by the president's press office, aim to enhance Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure and are scheduled for implementation over the coming years.

Zhakuypov noted the Aktobe-Kostanay gas pipeline is set to be operational by 2026, while the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline is expected to be completed the same year.

In terms of processing capacity, a gas processing plant with an annual capacity of 1 bcm is scheduled for commissioning in 2026. A larger facility with a capacity of 2.5 bcm is planned for 2029, marking a significant step toward enhancing the nation’s energy self-sufficiency.

Additionally, Samruk-Energy, a subsidiary of Samruk-Kazyna, is working with PIH on the construction of a gas-fired power plant in Kazakhstan, which will have a capacity of 1.1 GW. The power station is also anticipated to be commissioned by 2029.
