BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The number of transactions conducted using American Express payment cards issued by resident financial institutions in Azerbaijan by the end of March 2025 totaled 6,600, with the transaction volume amounting to 600,000 manat ($352,940).
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank (CBA) indicates that the number of transactions with American Express cards decreased by 888,100, or 135.6 times, while the transaction volume fell by 20.5 million manat ($12 million), or 35.2 times, compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, the number of transactions with American Express cards in Azerbaijan in the same period of 2024 was 894,700, and the transaction volume reached 21.1 million manat ($12.4 million).
Transactions with payment cards issued by resident financial institutions refer to the total number and volume of operations made using cards provided by financial institutions (local banks or financial entities) operating within the country.
