BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The number of transactions conducted using Visa payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in the first quarter of 2025 reached 604,100, with a total transaction volume of 54.1 million manat ($31.8 million).
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan indicates that this marks an increase compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the number of transactions rose by 111,400, or 22.6 percent, while the transaction volume grew by 7.4 million manat ($4.3 million), or 15.8 percent.
Meanwhile, transactions via Visa cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in the first quarter of 2024 totaled 492,700, with a volume of 46.7 million manat ($27.4 million).
In total, the transactions conducted through all payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 900,100, with a total volume of 86.5 million manat ($50.8 million).
For clarification, payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions are those provided by foreign financial entities that are not registered in Azerbaijan. Non-residents refer to legal or physical persons who are not permanently registered in the country or are based abroad.
