BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The volume of payments made through MasterCard payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in Azerbaijan has reached 289,200, while the transaction volume amounted to 30 million manat ($17.6 million) in the first quarter of 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank (CBA) indicates that the number of transactions has decreased by around 24,900 or 7.9 percent, and the transaction volume has fallen by 4.5 million manat ($2.6 million), or 13 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, the number of transactions with MasterCard cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in the same period last year was 314,100, with a total transaction volume of 34.5 million manat ($20.2 million).
In total, the transactions conducted through all payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 900,100, with a total volume of 86.5 million manat ($50.8 million).
The payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions are cards provided by foreign financial organizations that are not registered in Azerbaijan. Non-residents are defined as legal entities or individuals who do not have permanent registration in the country or are located abroad.
