BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. Transactions through American Express payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in Azerbaijan reached 800 operations, with a total transaction volume of 600,000 manat ($352,941).
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank (CBA) indicates the number of transactions remained unchanged, while the transaction volume increased by 100,000 manat ($58,823), or 20 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, non-resident financial institutions issued "American Express" cards that facilitated 800 transactions, amounting to 500,000 manat ($294,118) in total in the same period last year.
In total, the transactions conducted through all payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 900,100, with a total volume of 86.5 million manat ($50.8 million).
The payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions are cards provided by foreign financial organizations that are not registered in Azerbaijan. Non-residents are defined as legal entities or individuals who do not have permanent registration in the country or are located abroad.
