ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 23. The short-term economic indicator of Kazakhstan's Almaty grew by 9.1 percent in the first four months of 2025, indicating stable economic activity and positive trends in various sectors of the city's economy, Trend reports via the press service of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister.
According to the information, the main drivers of growth were three key sectors: transportation, construction, and manufacturing.
“In particular, the transportation sector showed the most significant growth, 23.9 percent. This means that in Kazakhstan’s largest city, there remains a high demand for transportation and logistics services. Accordingly, the transport infrastructure is also developing. The construction sector also demonstrated growth, 21.3 percent. Manufacturing increased by 17.6 percent,” the report says.
Overall, last year, the growth of Almaty’s gross regional product was 5.6 percent, which allowed the GRP (gross regional product) per capita to reach $27,500. This is one of the best indicators among the regions of Kazakhstan.
