BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5. The number of transactions made through American Express cards issued by resident financial institutions in Azerbaijan (including payment cards of statistical units) was 7,600, with a total transaction volume of 900,000 manat ($531,000), as of late May this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan shows that compared to the previous month, the number of transactions with American Express cards decreased by 1,500, or 16.5 percent, and the transaction volume fell by 200,000 manat ($118,000), or 18.2 percent.
As of the conclusion of April in the current fiscal year, the
aggregate volume of transactions executed through American Express
cards, which are disseminated by domestic financial entities,
reached 9,100, culminating in a transaction throughput of 1.1
million manat (equivalent to $649,000).
The aggregate volume and transaction count associated with payment
cards disseminated by domestic financial entities pertain to the
comprehensive tally of transactions executed via payment cards
distributed by financial institutions functioning within the
national jurisdiction (local banking entities or financial
organizations).
