BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. The number of issued American Express debit payment cards in Georgia reached over 1.46 million in July 2025, marking the highest level this year, Trend reports.
According to data from the National Bank of Georgia, the figure reflects steady growth in recent months. Compared to 1.43 million in June, issuance rose by around 2%. Against 1.41 million in May, the July figure represents a 3.5% increase.
Meanwhile, the lowest level this year was recorded in January, with just over 1.32 million American Express debit cards, meaning issuance has grown by nearly 11% since the start of 2025.
Overall, the total number of issued debit cards in Georgia stood at 10.224 million in July 2025. Including both debit and credit cards, the country’s total card issuance exceeded 10.8 million.
More than 117.38 million cards were issued in Georgia throughout 2024, highlighting the strong demand for card-based transactions in the country.
