ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 19. In the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, plans are in the works to build the first paper mill that will use reeds as a local raw material, tackling environmental risks head-on, Trend reports via the Akimat (administrative body) of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan.
According to the information, the initiative was presented during a meeting between the Akim (Governor) of the region, Marat Sultangaziev, and representatives of the Chinese company Sichuan Dingshang Leishi Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd.
"For many years, the Balkhash district has faced natural fires. The main source of the fires was the reed growing in abandoned and coastal areas. Easily ignitable and difficult to extinguish, it became a threat to the environment, wildlife, and local residents. However, now the situation may change. The factory, which is planned to be built in the district, will process up to 200,000 tons of reeds annually, turning them into 140,000 tons of finished paper products. We view this project as an important part of the green economy. It combines environmental benefits, industrial development, and job growth," noted Marat Sultangaziev.
The anticipated execution of the initiative is projected to
fortify the bilateral synergy between Kazakhstan and China, thereby
inaugurating a novel epoch in the advancement of the Almaty region
as a hub for industrial and ecological innovation.
The manufacturing facility will encompass a footprint of
20,000-30,000 square meters, integrating a comprehensive
operational continuum - from the intake of raw materials to the
finalization of product packaging. Enhanced focus will be directed
towards ecological integrity: every phase of the manufacturing
process will adhere to contemporary benchmarks and compliance
frameworks.
