ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 2. Kazakhstan's Almaty region has started construction of an agro-industrial cluster worth 15 billion tenge (about $28.5 million), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the information, the construction of a large-scale agro-industrial cluster for processing agricultural crops has started in Konaev (a city in the Almaty region).
The investment project is being implemented by LLP "Kapchagai Wheat Products," which has been producing flour, feed, and vegetable oils since 2010. The project cost is 15 billion tenge (about 28.5 million).
“The cluster will include several production areas at once, including flour milling, oil and fat production, a feed mill, and a packaging enterprise,” the Ministry of Agriculture said.
Moreover, the cluster’s production capacity will be 1,500 tons of grain per day.
The project is also oriented toward external markets, with the company planning to export up to 1 million tons of finished products to China annually.
Overall, 11 large investment projects worth more than 240 billion tenge (about $456 million) are currently being implemented in Konaev. Among them is the Sofood Kaz project for producing cheese and French fries, worth 49.2 billion tenge (about $93.5 million).
