Operations are held to install the software as a part of the intellectual system of transport management in Baku, the ministry's department of transport policy and economy head Sadraddin Mammadov said. The system is created to regulate and manage passenger transport in Baku.
"The construction of the building center of intellectual control in Baku has been already completed. We are working on installing the software and interface system", Mammadov said. Dispatching Center by analogy of the Center for Urban Transportation in Seoul was built under the agreement signed between the Korean SK C & C and the Ministry of Transport. The center will focus on Baku, and cover the Absheron Peninsula in future.
Mammadov said that work on installation of the necessary equipment on the ground will be launched soon.
Minister of Land, Transport and Water Affairs of South Korea Jong-Hwan Chung said that the creation of intellectual transport management systems in Baku will finish in April 2011.
According to the initial assessment, about 64 million manat is required for the realization of this project.
It is planned to install about 450 bus stops of a new type in Baku as a part of the intellectual system.
Electronic scoreboards will be installed there. They will monitor the traffic and the bus route (via satellite). Monitoring on effectiveness of location of a bus stop, necessity in it and use by the population will be held using cameras and board installed at the bus stop. Intelligent system involves the installation about 150 new electronic traffic lights.
According to research, the number of traffic lights and bus stops will be streamlined by the introduction of such a system. Their number has declined as a result of construction of bridges, pedestrian crossings. Creating of a system will allow to send operational information on the movement of vehicles, speed, stops, traffic accidents, traffic jams and other cases to the central control point.
