An international airport was commissioned in the Caspian city of Turkmenbashi.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov and members of the government attended the solemn ceremony. Turkish diversified company Polimex implemented the project worth 125 million euros. It won the tender.
The project was financed through the state budget of Turkmenistan. Its capacity is to receive up to six aircrafts and 800 passengers an hour. The port will receive aircrafts with weight up to 400 tons.
The project includes filling out from a central filling-station. Jet fuel will be supplied by pipeline from a nearby oil refinery, the largest one in the country.
The aviation-technical base was built here for servicing new planes in accordance with standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The new terminal is necessary to optimize the flow of foreign tourists in the resort area "Avaza" on the Caspian Sea, a source said.
This area was declared a free economic zone.
A tourist complex is being constructed for multibillion-dollar foreign currency. Turkmen authorities promise foreigners to simplify visa regime. CIS citizens also need a visa, as Turkmenistan left the Agreement on visa-free regime of the CIS countries.
