The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has presented the results of the feasibility study on the project for construction of a new international passenger terminal in Tashkent airport to Uzbekistan's government, KOICA's representative office in Tashkent told Trend May 2.
Uzbekistan's government signed an agreement with KOICA in May of 2015 on consulting services for working out the feasibility study of the Tashkent-4 terminal, after which the KOICA formed a consortium that will be engaged in this work.
The consortium included five South Korean companies led by the Incheon International Airport Corporation. The project's feasibility study should be worked out till July of 2016.
It is planned to complete the construction of the second international passenger terminal in Tashkent airport by late 2019. The preliminary cost of the project is $312 million. The capacity of the terminal is expected to reach 1,500 passengers per hour.
Tashkent International Airport is a part of Uzbekistan Airways.
The airport has two main passenger terminals - Tashkent -2 for serving the passengers of international airlines and Tashkent -3 for serving the passengers of local airlines.
Uzbekistan Airways is a monopoly air carrier of Uzbekistan and is fully owned by the state.
The company has eleven airports, of which eight have the international status.
