Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari urged Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO) to prioritize emerging technologies.
“IMIDRO, by having projects worth 100,000 billion toman underway, could create 70,000 jobs,” Shariatmadari said recently, IRIB news agency reported.
Stressing the importance of employing new technologies at IMIDRO, he said, “Emerging technologies should be high on the agenda of the organization”.
IMIDRO is a major state-owned holding company active in the mining sector in Iran. IMIDRO has 8 major companies and 55 operational subsidiaries active in steel, aluminum, copper, cement and mineral exploitation fields.
Emerging technologies are technologies that are perceived as capable of changing the status quo. They include a variety of technologies such as educational technology, information technology, nanotechnology, biotechnology, cognitive science, psychotechnology, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
