Azerbaijan's revenues from exports to Belarus soar

The revenue from Azerbaijan’s exports to Belarus totaled $165 million in 2020, which is almost 7 times more compared to 2019, Trend reports on Feb.5 referring to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC).

Thus, the share of Belarus in the total export of Azerbaijan increased from 0.1 percent to 1.2 percent, according to the SCC report.

As of January 1, 2021, imports of Belarusian products to Azerbaijan decreased from $206 million to $148 million, namely, by 40 percent. Belarus’ share in the total imports of Azerbaijan amounted to 1.38 percent of the total volume, while a year earlier - 1.51 percent.

In 2020, the volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and Belarus amounted to $313 million, which increased by 37.8 percent compared to 2019.

The balance of foreign trade turnover between the two countries for the reporting period became positive, amounting to $17 million.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in 2020 totaled over $24.47 billion, which is 26.5 percent less than in the previous year.

The Ganja Automobile Plant in Azerbaijan has particular importance in the implementation of joint activities with Belarus in the field of industrial cooperation. The joint production of MAZ buses, as well as the construction of a joint dairy facility in Azerbaijan are planned.

At present, more than 300 Belarusian enterprises operate on the territory of Azerbaijan.
