The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan amounted to $527 million in 2020, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan information portal.
This indicator shows that mutual trade between the two countries has increased almost 3 times more than in 2017.
Turkmenistan has entered the top ten countries in terms of volume and growth rates in the export of goods and services of Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan imports agricultural machinery, fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, mineral fertilizers, building materials and chemical products from Uzbekistan.
As earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan told Trend, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $451.6 million from January through November 2020.
According to the report, out of the above – mentioned amount of trade turnover, Uzbekistan's exports to Turkmenistan reached $118.5 million, and imports - $333 million.
"The main nomenclatures of Uzbekistan’s exports to Turkmenistan are chemical products, as well as products made from them, food products, industrial goods, etc," the ministry noted.
Despite the pandemic, in 2020 the countries managed to maintain the dynamics of Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation in all spheres.
The ministry notes that the strengthening of political trust and good-neighborly relations between Uzbekistan and the countries of Central Asia, in particular Turkmenistan, achieved in recent years represents a positive turning point in the modern history of the region.
