ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 4. Turkmenistan has taken the lead in supplying tomatoes to the Russian market since the beginning of 2025, Trend reports.
As of March 23, the volume of Turkmen tomatoes exported to Russia reached nearly 30,000 tons. Thus, Turkmenistan maintains its status as the primary supplier of tomatoes to the Russian market. Azerbaijan holds the second position, having exported 28,700 tons of tomatoes to Russia during the same period.
Overall, during this period, Russia imported 124,900 tons of tomatoes from foreign countries, with Turkmenistan accounting for a quarter of the total imports.
Earlier reports indicated that Turkmenistan exported 149,000 tons of tomatoes to foreign markets in 2024, with around 56 percent of this volume being shipped to Russia.
Overall, the trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan increased by 47.9 percent in 8 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
