BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. Iran’s Karun Oil and Gas Production Company has achieved a record high of daily crude oil production in the first half of the current Iranian yea (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Executive Director of the company Hassan Shahrooei said, Trend reports.
The director also that the company produced an average of 920,000 barrels per day, which is 15 percent more than the same period last year.
He attributed this increase to the efforts of the company’s specialists, despite the challenges posed by sanctions and equipment shortages.
Shahrooei also said that the company plans to further increase its crude oil production and implement the development plan of two oil fields, Mansouri and Abteymour, in the second half of the year (September 23, 2023 through March 19, 2024).
The Karun Oil and Gas Production Company, operating under the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), is one of the largest oil producers in Iran, with a capacity to produce over 1 million barrels of oil per day.
The company operates in several oil fields in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), including Mansouri and Abteymour.
The Mansouri oil field has over 3 billion barrels of crude oil reserves and produces about 93,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The Abteymour oil field has approximately 3.1 billion barrels of crude oil reserves and produces around 45,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
