For skills development, Georgia’s Innovations and Technology Agency (GITA) continues to contribute to ICT sector development, by announcing the program for 3000 Advanced IT specialists in highly demanded professions, ensuring their certification and licensing, GITA told Trend.
As the company noted, the training shall comprise of ICT and Non-ICT training courses culminating in exams to obtain internationally recognized certification. Some 3,000 individual trainees are to be trained through this program.
"Moreover, the pilot phase of the ICT training program and train 500 ICT specialists in 30 different topics will be starting. Training will be provided online and all students will have a chance to take an international exam and obtain an internationally recognized certification. Both pieces of training and certification exams are financed by the Government of Georgia and it will be available for free for all Georgian citizens," the GITA said.
According to the company, the program’s objective is to create a strong ecosystem in the country with competitive human resources on the international market.
"Georgia started building the innovation ecosystem since 2014 and had the clear mandate towards the fourth industrial revolution: to stimulate innovation, modern technologies, and R&D, facilitate commercialization and usage of R&D; support to innovative start-ups and their competitiveness growth, facilitate cooperation between the representatives of scientists and businesses," the GITA said.
As she source noted, various programs are being elaborated to leverage the existing talent pool Georgia is having, especially in IT, STEM, which is giving the country more attraction.
"Beyond the formal education strong system, Government is prompting the vocational education to strengthen the skills of the labor force, meeting the demand from the private sector and to ensure that workers are globally competitive," the GITA noted.
Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency was established under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development as the main coordinator and mediator of the innovation processes in the country and the support from the World Bank Group was secured for the Project - Georgia National Innovation Ecosystem (GENIE) in the amount of $23.5 million. The main objective of the project is to increase innovative activities of the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), including startups, and individuals in Georgia and their participation in the digital economy. GITA aspires to prepare the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Georgia to become comparative in the region and beyond.
