ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 24. Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, during a meeting with the CEO of TAV Airports Holding, Serkan Kaptan, discussed the prospects for further development of Kazakhstan’s aviation industry and reviewed the activities of Almaty International Airport, Trend reports.
Since TAV's involvement in the project in 2020, the company has invested $260 million in the airport’s development.
“In alignment with the forthcoming phase of strategic
modernization extending to 2030, TAV is poised to allocate an
estimated $362 million towards the enhancement of runway
infrastructure, the establishment of a parallel taxiway, the
development of an apron designated for cargo operations, the
modernization of terminal facilities, and the advancement of
security frameworks and IT ecosystems, alongside the construction
of parking facilities and a hospitality venue,” articulated the
press office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
In May 2025, the culmination of the construction phase for the new
international terminal was achieved. Serkan Kaptan observed
favorable trajectories in multiple critical domains. For example,
the volume of passenger throughput has experienced a substantial
escalation in recent years, surging from 6.4 million in 2019 to
11.4 million in 2024. The volumetric throughput of cargo
transportation has escalated from 65,000 tons to 114,000 tons,
representing a substantial 70 percent of the aggregate air cargo
movement nationwide.
TAV Airports Holding stands as a preeminent Turkish airport
management entity, boasting a robust international footprint. The
organization delivers a comprehensive suite of offerings within the
aviation sector and operates under the umbrella of the French
conglomerate Groupe ADP, which holds a 46.1 percent equity stake in
TAV's share capital.
