BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 2. The value of services offered by hotels and restaurants with foreign investment in Kyrgyzstan in 2023 reached 5.5 billion soms (about $64 million).
Data obtained by Trend from the Kyrgyz Statistical Committee shows that this accounts for 13 percent of the total output in the country.
Meanwhile, the largest share of services was attributed to enterprises in the Chui region, accounting for 65.1 percent, amounting to 3.56 billion soms ($41.4 million), while Bishkek contributed 34 percent, totaling 1.861 billion soms ($21.6 million).
To note, a total of 4,264 enterprises with foreign investments were operating in Kyrgyzstan in 2023, with 72 percent fully owned by foreign capital. The number of enterprises with foreign investments increased by 22.7 percent compared to 2019 and by 21.3 percent compared to 2022.
In 2023, the inflow of foreign direct investments (excluding outflows) directed towards enterprises with foreign investments amounted to $844.9 million, which is 29.7 percent less than in 2022 and 21.5 percent less than in 2019.
Meanwhile, the majority of foreign direct investments (86.8 percent) were directed towards mining enterprises, manufacturing, financial intermediation, and insurance, as well as wholesale and retail trade (88.5 percent in 2022 and 50 percent in 2019).
