A delegation of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund expressed interest in deepening partnership with Turkmenistan, including through implementing joint projects, local media outlets reported on Thursday.
The question is about projects in the sphere of culture, education, science, study of cultural heritage, sports, tourism, as well as information and communications sphere.
The Fund's delegation held a series of meetings at the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Culture and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, during which views were exchanged on prospects for cooperation.
In particular, development of humanitarian partnership in the Commonwealth and plans for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Fund were topics of discussions during a meeting at the Foreign Ministry.
"Turkmenistan is an associate member of the CIS has always stood for a constructive dialogue with the commonwealth countries in both bilateral and multilateral formats and builds its relations based on established traditions of friendship, good neighborliness and principles of equal and mutually beneficial partnership," the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
Turkmenistan chairs the CIS in 2012.
The CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund delegation's members stressed that the Fund's main purpose is creating an effective mechanism for the development of humanitarian cooperation in the member states of the Treaty on the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.
