Iran will export more than 139,000 tons of pistons this Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 21, 2020), said Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jihad Ali Akbar Mehrfard, Trend reports with reference to the Young Journalists Club (YJC).
Mehrfard said that this figure was 52,000 tons last year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019).
Iran’s pistachio production has reached 300,000 tons, the deputy minister noted.
So far, Iran has exported pistachios worth $1.5 billion annually, the deputy minister added.
“This figure will reach $4-5 billion over the next few years,” Mehrfard said.
The deputy minister noted that there are 225 pistachio processing and packaging facilities in Iran.
