Transportation of 1,000 cubic meters of gas via the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), which is being built in Turkey, will cost $70, Saltuk Duzyol, head of the TANAP consortium, said in an interview with the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet.
Duzyol said 30 percent of the transportation fee will go to Turkey’s BOTAS Petroleum Pipeline Corporation, a shareholder in the TANAP project that is meant for supplying gas from Azerbaijan’s largest Shah Deniz field to Turkey and Europe.
“TANAP consortium will pay $5.95 per each 1,000 cubic meters to Turkey as taxes,” Duzyol added.
He said TANAP, which is to deliver the first volumes of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey in 2018, will reduce Turkey’s dependence on Russian gas.
At an initial phase, Azerbaijan plans to pump 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year via TANAP.
Currently, TANAP’s shareholders are the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (58 percent), Botas (30 percent) and BP (12 percent).
