BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19. The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) is gearing up to hit the ground running by acquiring 60 specialized vehicles to bolster its operations, with total costs expected to reach a hefty 5.4 million manat, Trend reports.
The agency has initiated the procurement process to obtain the vehicles, which include 25 pickup-type vehicles for medical assistance, 20 pickups for transporting mine-detection dogs, and 15 pickup-passenger vehicles for other specialized tasks.
ANAMA is presently engaged in the procurement phase to identify the vendor responsible for the provision of vehicles, with the objective of augmenting its operational efficacy in mine clearance and ancillary operations.
The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action was founded in 1998. It mobilizes the requisite resources to address mine action in alignment with national needs and priorities, coordinates inter-agency efforts for the safe clearance of mines from de-occupied and war-affected regions, continues to conduct research, clears mines from territories, and transfers them to end users, while also communicating Azerbaijan's mine issue to the global community and enhancing mutually beneficial collaboration with international and donor organizations to combat the mine threat.
