ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 19. Western Kazakhstan and Orenburg are building a strategic partnership in business and investments during a key visit by the Kazakh delegation to Russia, Trend reports.
Akim (Governor) of the Western Kazakhstan region, Nariman Turegaliev, visited the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation on a working visit. As part of the trip, a meeting was held with the Vice-Governor of the Orenburg region, Deputy Chairman of the Government for Economic and Investment Policy, Ignat Petukhov, where the parties discussed key issues of trade and economic cooperation and business development.
During the meeting, Turegaliev spoke about the investment potential of the Western Kazakhstan region, noting that the legislation provides a range of preferences and benefits for the comfortable operation of companies.
The Akim of the Western Kazakhstan region also emphasized the importance of sustainable cooperation between the two regions, noting the positive dynamics in economic relations.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev always emphasizes that relations between Kazakhstan and Russia serve as an example of strong and unbreakable friendship," said Turegaliev.
The Orenburg region plays a special role in this interaction, with the trade turnover reaching $12.1 million during the specified period. The Western Kazakhstan region exports gas, waste, scrap metal, and barley. In turn, grain and dairy products, concrete and metal products, as well as other goods in demand on the local market, are imported from the Orenburg region.
"Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite business representatives to engage in active cooperation. We have created favorable conditions for the development of joint projects, and we are ready to provide all necessary support," the head of the region added.
In addition to trade and economic issues, the participants of the meeting discussed cooperation in healthcare, education, science, culture, agriculture, and other sectors.
The Vice-Governor of the Orenburg region, Ignat Petukhov, expressed interest in cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Akim of the Western Kazakhstan region also invited representatives of the Orenburg region to participate in the XXI Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia with the participation of heads of state. The forum will serve as a platform for discussing new joint initiatives and strengthening partnership relations.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation.
To note, from January to November 2024, the external trade turnover of the Western Kazakhstan region with the Russian Federation amounted to $681.6 million.
