Georgian railway doesn’t suffer from derailment in Azerbaijan

Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 24 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia/ Georgian Railway didn't suffer damage as a result of carriage derailment in Azerbaijan. There was information about some problems but Georgia didn't suffer damage, Georgian Railway LLC said to Trend .

"If we suffered damage, the carrier, as a rule, would pay compensation," Georgian Railway said.

Azerbaijan State Railway (ASR) restored a part of railway in Tovuz region that was damaged as a result of derailment of Georgian Railway carriages loaded with bauxite, ASR said on Dec. 24.

"The damaged part of the railway has been repaired. The event didn't influence on traffic," the source said.

On Dec. 24, four of eight wagons loaded with bauxite routing from Ganja to Sumgayit derailed.

Presently, ASR special commission on traffic security technical inspection investigates reasons of the accident. All options, in particular railway disorder and carriage problems, are being considered. Within ten days the commission will summarize the investigation results, the source said.
